Half-Round Gutters
Half-round gutters are shaped like a tube cut in half. They are great for rainy climates because they carry water well. They are also easy to clean because of their shape. However, because they are so open, they do catch a lot of debris. They either need to be cleaned frequently or gutter guards should be installed. Their rounded edges also mean that they cannot just be nailed into the fascia board. Rather, they need brackets to keep them secure. These gutters are a little more high-maintenance than some other types but a great option for people who want an easy clean or live in very rainy areas.
K Style Rain Gutters
K-style gutters are the most common type of gutters you see on a home. They have a flat back and bottom and the outer side comes out at an angle. The outer side also looks like crown molding, so it’s a great decorative option that is also functional. K-style gutters are easy to install and are durable. These gutters can also carry more water than the half round gutters, but their design makes them more difficult to clean and they can clog easily. That being said, they are another great option for rainy climates.
Gutters Down-Spouts
Gutter down-spouts are part of every gutter system. They are at the bottom of the gutter system, where the water from the roof is sent. Downspouts should discharge away from your home to help avoid foundational damage. A gutter system will have more than one downspout - in fact, a good gutter system should have one for every 35 linear feet of gutter. Otherwise, it can become overwhelmed and not drain quickly enough.
Custom-built Fascia Gutters
A custom-built fascia gutter is the sleekest and most contemporary-looking gutter style. Unlike other gutter styles that come in sections, custom fascia gutters are seamless. This means that they are not as prone to leaks and rust, which can reduce the amount of maintenance they’ll need over time. However, they are the most expensive option as they must be installed by professionals.
